As dedicated financial planners, we often find that our lives are filled with numbers and market data. Yet, behind all this are people with interests and passions just like yours, which is why we wanted to share something special.
Bev, our co-director here at Investment Sense, recently completed an inspiring milestone!
Alongside her continued and dedicated work in supporting clients in reaching their long-term financial goals, she has been pursuing a master’s degree in Photography from the University of Lincoln. This culminated in a public exhibition of her work in May.
Indeed, on 23 and 24 May, Bev showcased her final project, titled (dis)connect, at the Broadway Gallery in Nottingham.
The exhibition displayed 20 breathtaking landscape photos and a looping video piece, exploring the complexity of interactions between humans, digital devices, and the environment.
Over the space of two days, the exhibition attracted around 100 visitors. It was a brilliant and proud moment for Bev, as it gave her the opportunity to showcase her hard work.
While she once practised photography as a hobby, Bev decided to take things to the next level
While photography has long been Bev’s hobby, she decided to take it further after attending a family graduation in July 2023.
There, she met a woman who had completed her first degree at the age of 50. This struck a chord with Bev, who already held a degree in Economics from Nottingham Trent, inspiring her to return to study something new.
The underpinning theme of the exhibition – which challenged viewers to think about how they engage with the digital and physical world – mostly featured landscapes.
This is because Bev loves using her medium to highlight the vastness of space, showing just how small we are in nature.
Of course, Bev has remained entirely focused on her work as a financial planner over the past two years. Still, after successfully juggling countless hours in the online library, Harvard referencing, and the needs of our valued clients, Bev has found that her appreciation for photography has deepened.
Bev’s favourite photo (which you can see in all its glory below) was a large statement piece that many guests actually wanted to purchase!
Both Bev’s guests, and us here at Investment Sense, were proud of her achievement
Bev’s guests warmly received her exhibition, too.
Several friends congratulated her on her “first-class presentation”, while other attendees left comments about how the looping film left them “thinking deeply”.
A comment that we feel rounds the entire experience up is: “You absolutely nailed it”.
While the entire experience has been incredibly rewarding, Bev is now looking forward to returning to photography as a hobby only!
Regardless, all of us at Investment Sense are proud of Bev’s remarkable achievement and feel that it’s worth shouting about from the rooftops.
